The Dropbox website is down on Friday night, with hacker group 1775 Sec and Anonymous taking responsibility.

The groups said that they compromised dropbox.com and that it was in honor of Aaron Swartz, on the anniversary of his death.

But Dropbox said in a statement that while it is aware that the website is down, the status was caused by “routine internal maintenance, and was not caused by external factors.”

“We are working to fix this as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience,” it added.
