Drew Brees, the Super Bowl-winning quarterback from the New Orleans Saints, called on his Twitter fanbase to come up with a name for his new baby boy.

There is a catch, however, as the name needs to be uncommon and start with the letter “B.”

“My wife is due any day now with baby boy 2. We have a few names picked out but haven’t decided yet. Looking for ‘b’ names. Suggestions?” he wrote last week.

On his Facebook and Twitter pages, thousands upon thousands of replies were posted.

Brees added that he was overwhelmed by the amount of responses.

“WOW. I had no idea this many people would respond. We loved everyone’s suggestions and are getting close. Will keep you posted,” he Tweeted Tuesday.

Alex Restrepo, the Saints’ social media head, said that Brees’ baby request is “by far the most popular thing we’ve ever posted,” according to the Times-Picayue.

The newspaper reported that 6,000 people responded on Twitter and almost 12,000 responded on Facebook.

“It’s kind of taken a life of its own,” Brees joked, according to the paper. “It kind of almost turned into if you make a large donation to the Brees Dream Foundation you could pick the name. ... Honestly a lot of them were good.”

Standard names starting with the letter “B” were offered like “Blake” and “Bryan,” but also ridiculous and made-up names were abundant like “Breyton,” “Boston,” and “Blitz.”
