Downsville and Monroe in Louisiana was hit hard by a tornado, and although no injuries have been reported, the Shipp Arena was destroyed.

The tornado on Saturday night also 30,000 16-day-old chicks, grower David Manuel said.

He also lost three chicken houses, he told The News Star.

High winds and the tornado hit a large portion of Louisiana, including the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Almost 40,000 lost power, though that number was down around 20,000 by Sunday night.

“I was sitting at my desk when I heard it coming; I could hear the trees snapping,” Farmerville Mayor Stein Baughman said. “I ran to get my wife, and we went to the middle bathroom. The storm was gone in 20 or 30 seconds, but you can trace the path.”

Downsville Mayor Reggie Skains called the aftermath “a mess.”
