Diane Lampert, a songwriter from the 1950s and 1960s, has died in a Manhattan hospital, her husband has confirmed. She was credited for writing the lyrics to a number of title songs for around two dozen movies.
Lampert, who wrote songs for films starring Cary Grant, Bob Hope, and Buster Keaton, died of heart failure at a Manhattan hospital on Friday, reported The Associated Press. She was 88 years old.
Lampert also worked with the Beatles, but she did not receive credit until years later. She wrote the song “Nothin Shakin' (But The Leaves On The Trees),” which released in 1994 on “Live At The BBC.”
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Fred Lampert, the president of the Rainbow Music Corp, who confirmed her death with AP. A memorial service for Lampert will be held Wednesday at Riverside Memorial Chapel.
Lampert’s death comes just more than a week after the death of Shadow Morton, another successful songwriter and record producer from the same era.
Morton died after a long battle with cancer at his home in Laguna Beach, California on Feb. 14, reported The New York Times. He was 71.
He was credited with writing and producing a number of songs in the 1960s, including “Leader of the Pack,” and “Remember (Walking in the Sand).”
