Detroit police said on Wednesday that two people are dead and at least seven others were also shot.
The shootings happened outside a barber shop, Al’s Place Barber Shop, on the 5200 block of east Seven Mile Road, Police Chief James Craig said.
The location is near Keystone Street. The shop is known for gambling, Craig told reporters.
The conditions of the victims who were not killed isn’t known yet.
The suspects are described as two black males, who were driving a 2004 white Impala, possibly with a broken window and bullet holes, and a 2004 black Impala.
Police had initially said three people were dead, but later revised that number.
It’s not clear how many people may have opened fire.
Police Chief James Craig told reporters that “suspects engaged a couple of victims” and that “several shots were fired.” He wasn’t sure if any victims fired back.
The barbershop is in a strip mall along a major road on Detroit’s east side.
Craig says the barbershop is a known gambling site but doesn’t know if the shooting was gambling-related.
