People around the world have been impacted as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are all experiencing a major outage Monday. According to detection websites, by noon, there were over 5 million reports that Facebook was down. In America alone, there were over 123,000 reports of the social media giant being down. This comes after a Facebook whistleblower accused the company of prioritizing profits over public good in her bombshell interview with “60 minutes.” Frances Haugen said, “There were conflicts of interest between what was good for the public and what was good for Facebook, and Facebook over and over again chose to optimize for its own interests.”
U.S. Marines who had been deployed to Afghanistan returned home on Sunday. This comes as a Marine who rescued a baby over the fence at the Kabul airport is being investigated for appearing at a Trump rally. On Saturday, Sept. 25, he went on stage at a Trump rally held in Perry, Georgia. Trump told the rally that with them that day was one of the Marines who was in Kabul and helped evacuate children. Lance Corporal Hunter Clark was not wearing his military uniform at the time. He spoke for about 20 seconds. The 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit is now conducting a command investigation, “to determine if any Department of Defense policies were violated.”
