Deep Dive (Dec. 14): Cuomo Ordered to Turn Over $5.1 Million From Pandemic Book Deal

Rescuers are racing the clock to find remaining survivors in the aftermath of the weekend’s deadly storms. More than 100 people are unaccounted for in Kentucky as of Monday night. The death toll from the devastating storms has risen to 88 across the impacted states. Hundreds of miles of death and devastation caused by at least five confirmed tornadoes are being investigated by the National Weather Service.

The Supreme Court declines to block New York’s vaccine mandate. The high court rejected two emergency requests to block New York state’s vaccine mandate. Justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Clarence Thomas dissented. This comes as the state’s new vaccine mandates extend to children as young as 5 years old. And former Gov. Andrew Cuomo is feeling the heat. The state’s ethics board is ordering Cuomo to turn over around $5.1 million with 30 days to comply. The board found Cuomo ran afoul of state ethics laws. Cuomo was given permission to write the book on the grounds that no state time, resources, personnel, property, or other resources would be used in the process.
