The Dallas Cowboys, currently at 7-3, are slated to play the Giants on Sunday night in New York. Here’s some of the latest buzz:
Romo for MVP?
While it seems unlikely, there’s been some suggestion that Tony Romo is an MVP candidate for this year.
As Bleacher Report notes, “In terms of passer rating, yards per attempt and completion percentage, Romo ranks second among current starting quarterbacks.”
Romo currently has a higher completion rate than Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, according to Pro Football Focus.
The only problem is that Romo has only 18 touchdowns, while Manning has 30, Brady has 24, and Aaron Rodgers has 28.
Of note, Romo also has a 107.2 passer rating with a 68.8 completion percentage. Manning’s is 107.1 with a 67.1 rate. And Rodgers’ rating is an astronomical 120.1 with a 66.8 completion rate.
Brady has 5 interceptions, Manning has 9 interceptions, Rodgers has 3 interceptions, and Romo has 6.
Romo is also much better than all the other quarterbacks mentioned in the second half of games, where he has a 72.7 percent completion percentage and a 122 rating. He’s also the second-best quarterback on 3rd down, with a 69.5 completion percentage and rating of 121.1.
