Crop Circle Appears in Poirino, Italy

A new crop circle was discovered in Poirino in northern Italy on June 20.

The formation resembles a large flower with seven petals and a seven-pointed star at its center.

Radiating from between each pair of petals is a line of eight circles. According to cropcircleconnector.com, each line of circles represents a string of ones and zeros that encode an alphabetic letter according to the ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) system.

Going clockwise around the formation, the encoded letters spell “Enki Ea,” according to the website, which is the name of a Sumerian god.

Poirino is the site of several elaborate crop formations that have been discovered in recent years.

Just over one year ago, on June 11, 2010, a similar, six-petaled crop circle was discovered. It appeared to represent the lunar cycle for a six-month period and at the time was the largest crop formation to have ever been seen in Italy.
