NEW YORK—A loosely organized parade celebrated Easter and spring in Manhattan on Sunday. Small crowds gathered around and snapped pictures of those sporting whimsical hats, hand-crafted bonnets, and colorful attire in a constantly shifting photo-op. A tradition since Civil War days, the event was held on Fifth Avenue between 47th and 57th streets. The avenue was closed to car traffic for the day, creating a broad promenade for strolling and photo taking. The sunny day and relaxed atmosphere made for a good time for everyone.
