LOS ANGELES—Shen Yun Performing Arts Company performed at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion to a sold out crowd on Saturday, Jan. 14. The New York-based dance company received a standing ovation from the audience of more than 3,000 people who attended the company’s final performance in LA County.

Misty Gonzales and Tom Wilson, owners of Freedom Child Entertainment, were in the audience.

“I thought the show was very beautiful. I’m a big fan of dance, and I thought the execution of the dances and the discipline and how effortlessly they danced was so gorgeous, beautiful,” said Ms. Gonzales.

Ms. Gonzales is a singer and songwriter, and sings under her independent record label, Freedom Child Entertainment, a partnership she has with Cleveland-based owner of radio and television stations, Tom Wilson.

The evening’s program included world class Bel Canto soloists, which delighted both Ms. Gonzales and Mr. Wilson.

“I was blown away,” said Ms. Gonzales. “I didn’t know the show had singers, so when I saw the first opera singer I was really amazed. I’m a huge fan of Shen Yun!”

“I loved the opera singers as much as the dancers,” Mr. Wilson said. “I'd probably like to come every couple of weeks to see them.”

Ms. Gonzales was particularly impressed with the costumes worn by the dancers.

“The quality of the wardrobes and the talent that is on stage—spectacular!” said Ms. Gonzales.

The costumes are brilliant colors of the rainbow with hand-dyed silk, embellished with crystals adding a superior element to the entire production.

Through the arts, dance, music, and song, Shen Yun revives ancient China’s lost culture, bringing it alive on stage.

“I would say that it’s a really creative and beautiful way to learn about Chinese culture. The stories were really amazing, and a beautiful visual,” Ms. Gonzales said.

Mr. Wilson said that he would recommend the show to others.

“I think it’s a very unique show with a lot of great talent, and the opera singers. It’s like you get two or three shows in one,” he said.
