NEW YORK— Con Edison reduced its power voltage Wednesday in order to allow workers to repair equipment. The voltage was lowered for the second time this week by 5 percent in parts of Sutton Place and Midtown East.

Customers are not expected to lose air conditioning or power, but water heaters may take longer to heat and lights may glow dimmer. The company is reminding residents to “use energy wisely.”

Con Edison said the voltage reductions are not connected to the labor dispute, which locked out 8,000 union members on July 1.

Con Edison met with union workers again Wednesday morning to continue bargaining discussions.
