Cliff Lee, reeling off the Texas Rangers’ loss in the World Series against the San Francisco Giants, has been a free agent since Sunday. And many teams are looking.

That includes the New York Yankees, the club’s general manager Brian Cashman told the New York Daily News.

Cashman said that he was impressed with Lee when he met the standout pitcher on Wednesday in Arkansas.

“Although it’s the first time I’ve met him, I’ve seen enough of his interviews,” he told the Daily News.

“He’s the same guy. Pretty easy demeanor, just seemed like a great guy that’s not very excitable. Excellent at what he does, knows what he wants to do, wants to put his family in the best position possible, wants to be happy, wants to be successful and wants to be part of a winner.”

However, Cashman said that he doesn’t feel that the former Cy Young winner would be an absolutely necessary addition to the Yankees.

“I don’t feel like we are in a desperate situation here,” Cashman said, according to ESPN. “I think we have a lot of quality players on this team that won 95 games and fell two games short of a World Series.”

The Daily News reported that the Yankees have not made any offers yet to Lee.

“We are going to present offers in our comfort zone, given the age and all aspects of the player’s strengths and weaknesses,” Cashman, who met his agent and family, told the newspaper. “We'll see if it works.”
