The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) may still be harvesting organs from executed prisoners, according to the account of an asylum seeker who recently arrived in Canberra, Australia.
Liu Xueming, an internal medicine doctor applying for asylum due to his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual practice being persecuted in China, recounted to The Epoch Times about a conversation he had with a corneal disease specialist in 2022.
Liu has been engaged in medical work since graduating in 1996. Liu’s close college friend Alex, an industry expert with over 20 years of experience in clinical ophthalmology, opened his own hospital and became its director. The Epoch Times did not use Alex’s real name for safety reasons.
After two cups of alcohol, Alex told Liu his experience of harvesting corneas from prisoners right after they were shot dead.
“During a meal between the two of us, we had a conversation where ... suddenly, he mentioned that he used to frequently harvest organs from prisoners,” Liu said, though Alex did not specify when this happened.
“I questioned him, asking, ‘Aren’t you afraid?’” Liu said.
“He said that at first, he was very scared, but over time, he felt that it was just a routine, like having a meal.”
“Later, he told me that some days he would harvest several in one day … He said that in China, things like this are a common sight.”
