A viral hoax that’s been going around says Chief Keef was shot three times and hospitalized on Chicago’s South Side. The rapper took time on Twitter to dispute the rumor, but people were still talking about it on Saturday.

The hoax originated on satire website Huzlers.com, which doesn’t post real news. “Chicago rapper Chief Keef, real name Keith Cozart, is being hospitalized in critical condition, nearly being killed after being shot several times in Chicago’s south side,” it reads.

“Chief Keef has been reportedly shot over 3 times in the leg, shoulder, and rib. The shots weren’t fatal and he is now being hospitalized in a south side hospital. Chicago is known for it’s gun violence and murders, which has earned it nicknames such as ‘Murder capital’ and ‘Chiraq’. Chief Keef is also known to be affiliated with gangs even before he became famous for his music,” it adds.

Huzlers’ disclaimer says it is “a combination of real shocking news and satire news to keep its visitors in a state of disbelief.” The disclaimer can be seen on each webpage on the site.

Responding to the hoax, Chief Keef wrote on Twitter: “Where this I got shot [expletive] come from ?”

But despite that, users were still talking about it on Saturday evening. “Word is chief keef got shot three times,” one person wrote. “Chief keef got shot,” added another.

People were also sharing a screenshot of the Huzlers article as “proof” of the incident.

This month, Keef avoided being evicted from his North Shore mansion after it emerged that he was behind on his rent by about $30,000.

The Chicago Tribune reported that he was able to make the payment.

This comes after a March 26 shooting at his manager’s rented home in Northfield. A 33-year-old man was injured critically but was released from the hospital this month.

Keef, according to his lawyer, was at the home but he wasn’t involved in the shooting, according to the Chicago Tribune.
