At least 35 people were killed and more than 70 injured on Thursday from a car bomb explosion at a funeral in a Shi'ite area of Iraq’s capital of Baghdad.
Health ministry officials confirmed that 35 people were killed when a bomb on a car came to rest just outside the funeral tent packed with relatives and guests, Reuters reported.
However, the report cited two security sources saying that more than 45 people had been killed and about 120 injured.
The car bomb attack is also said to have sparked protests against security forces.
Up to 200 people have been killed over the past two weeks in Iraq as the United States prepares to withdraw its troops from Iraq by the end of this year.
