Candice Bergen, best known for playing Murphy Brown on the show by the same name, was cast on the Fox TV medical drama House, according to media reports on Thursday.
Bergen will play the mother of Lisa Cuddy, the girlfriend of the brilliant diagnostician Gregory House, and will have a recurring role, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The five-time Emmy winner hasn’t made a television appearance since ABC’s Boston Legal stopped airing in 2008.
Bergen, 64, will appear on more than one episode and the multi-story arc is slated to hit the small screen in January.
The seventh season of House will have a slew of other guest appearances, with Joan of Arcadia’s Amber Tamblyn appearing on the show as a doctor and mentee to House. Matthew Lillard, Dylan Baker, Jennifer Grey, and Amy Irving will also be making appearances at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital.
