Bubbles are fragile and ephemeral. They are wondrous too, one of the few things in the world that border on magic. Maybe that’s why they awaken the child in us.

Melody Yang, one of the 5 family artists in the Gazillion Bubble Show, makes bubbles most have never seen: bubbles inside bubbles, bubbles filled with smoke that explode to reveal smaller empty bubbles, bubbles that stretch across the stage. And for the kids: bubbles that encase them.

Eventually, bubbles of all shapes and colors started coming out from the walls and the ceiling of the theater, making one feel as though submerged in an aquatic world. All one can see is a sea of hands reaching out to catch the bubbles.

And the finale? Just add lasers.

The Gazillion Bubble Show plays at New World Stages Friday through Sunday every week.
