Long time award-winning Broadway actress Lynn Redgrave, star of “Georgy Girl,” died Sunday in her home. She was 67.

Redgrave who worked as a Broadway actress for many years along with her sister actress Vannessa Redgrave, lost her long time battle with breast cancer Sunday night at her home in Connecticut. Her death was confirmed by her agent and later by her family who made an official statement on her website.

“Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven year journey with breast cancer. She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before,” read her family’s statement.

Redgrave was nominated for two Oscars during her film career. Her first Oscar nomination was for her famed 1966 role in Georgy Girl, when she was nominated for Best Actress. At that same time her sister Vannessa was nominated in the same category for her role in Morgan: A Suitable Case For Treatment.

On Broadway, Redgrave was nominated for three Tony Awards including 1976’s Mrs. Warren’s Professional, 1993’s Shakespeare for My Father, and 2006’s The Constant Wife. In 2004 she won a Barrymore Award for her role in Collected Stories.

A talented actress, Redgrave inherited her some of her abilities from a multigenerational family of entertainers. Before her death Redgrave wrote a message on her professional page addressing her family history,

“I am proud to be a part of a family of actors, embracing as it does more than five generations: my grandparents, parents Sir Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson, sister Vanessa, brother Corin and nieces Natasha Richardson, Joely Richardson and Jemma Redgrave,” read the statement.

Even in her time of illness Redgrave was active in the entertainment industry. Her most recent work was the project Nightingale. Nightingale was an autobiographical piece that she wrote and starred in. With such an extensive career and warm presence, the world has a lot to cherish in their remembrance of her. No official statements have been made about her funeral services, explaining whether they will be public or private.

“The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Our entire family asks for privacy through this difficult time,” said Redgrave’s family in an official press statement.
