The San Francisco Police Department’s bomb squad is heading to the Tenderloin district after a suspicious device was found.
KTVU-TV, which broke the story, wrote on Twitter that the SFPD “has issued a shelter in place in the area of Mason and Turk as they investigate a [suspicious] device. Streets are closed.”
Later, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that the device was first found around 7:25 p.m. local time.
A shelter-in-place was set up for nearby buildings, the paper also said.
Officer Gordon Shyy said the bomb squad was heading to the scene.
Traffic will be impacted for around an hour, he said.
