Birthday at Shen Yun

KANSAS CITY, Mo.— “Girls glide across the stage like they are on ice! You don’t even see any other body part move. They are just gliding. It’s so beautiful!” said Carol Wallace after watching Shen Yun Performing Arts’ dancers at Kansas City’s Muriel Kauffman Theatre, Kauffman Center on Wednesday, Jan. 23.

Milton Wallace, a retired executive who helped small businesses become profitable, took out his wife to celebrate his birthday—fortunately, he enjoyed the date himself: “These are such talented people, the choreography is just outstanding, and the costumes are just breathtaking.

“We are glad to experience this journey.”

Mrs. Wallace was executive secretary for Farmland Industries before her retirement.

Shen Yun is the world’s premier Chinese music and dance company with the mission to revive 5,000 years of China’s true and all but lost cultural treasures.

Both agreed that the dancing was very well done.

Shen Yun specializes in classical Chinese dance, considered one of the most comprehensive and expressive dance systems in the world. Classical Chinese dance has its own set of basic skills in both physical expression and specific postures. “It also involves learning combinations of leaps, turns, flips, spins, and other aerial and tumbling techniques,” the website notes.

If Mrs. Wallace were to introduce Shen Yun to friends, she would say, “Oh, you should have been with us because it was such an awesome experience.”
