NEW YORK—Around this time next year, Harlem will host a brand new festival to celebrate its food and culture, Mayor Bill de Blasio and former President Bill Clinton announced on Tuesday.

The Harlem EatUp! will take place in Harlem’s restaurants and cultural institutions from May 15 to17, 2015.

Bill Clinton established his office in Harlem shortly after finishing his last term as president. De Blasio praised him for remaining a New Yorker.

“This festival is about food but it’s also about the culture of Harlem,” Clinton said. “This is a way of lifting this neighborhood that I think will have permanent benefits economically for people who live here.”

The festival has already secured a $250,000 sponsorship from EY, formerly known as Ernst & Young.

Part of the proceeds will benefit the Citymeals-on-Wheels program, which delivers hot meals to homebound elderly New Yorkers, and Harlem Park to Park, a community improvement organization
