Natalie Portman and Black Swan choreographer Benjamin Millepied are engaged and expecting their first child in 2011.
Portman, who plays veteran ballerina Nina Sayers in Black Swan, met Millepied during the psychological thriller’s production, according to People magazine.
In the movie, Portman shows the obsessive tendencies of the dancer’s life, and her increasing struggles as principal female dancer in a role that encompasses both the innocent white swan and the reckless dark swan.
The 29-year-old actress’ performance in Black Swan has led to a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe nomination for best actress. In 2011, Portman will appear in No Strings Attached, Your Highness, and Thor.
A native of Israel, Portman grew up in Syosset, N.Y., and received a degree from Harvard University.
Her 33-year-old fiancé was born in France and is currently a choreographer and principal dancer with New York City Ballet, according to CBS News.
Millepied has a small role in Black Swan as a dancer called David.
