Oprah Winfrey’s stepmother Barbara Winfrey says that Oprah is vindictive and is forcing her out of her home, leaving her homeless.
Barbara was married to Oprah’s father Vernon for 14 years before she says Oprah’s intervention prompted a divorce.
Oprah even called Barbara on Barbara’s 64th birthday and said “You say I never talk to you. I’m talking to you now. You have until Monday to get out of MY house.”
Barbara discussed a wide range of things related to Oprah, a famed mogul, in an interview with the Daily Mail.
One of the disagreements at the core of their relationship was Vernon’s barber shop, which Oprah refused to help renovate. So Barbara secured a loan on a home she owned as collateral.
Meanwhile, Barbara says she was struggling with revelations of Vernon’s infidelity but that she was not looking to end the marriage.
However, Oprah advised her father to get out of the marriage and rather than help keep up with the loan repayments, let the bank foreclose on Barbara’s home.
When that happened, Oprah bought the home
“Everyone thought she was swooping in to save the day. But she’d stood back and let that day happen,” she said.
“Vernon had been telling everyone he was unhappy with the marriage. He told Stedman and he told Oprah, so she came up with an escape plan I guess to get me out of the picture, make all the scandal of what he’d done go away.”
Vernon filed for fdicorve citing unreasonable marital conduct but the court sided with Barbara. However, a settlement offer that included relinquishing a portion of her pension to Vernon was not up to snuff and Barbara rejected it. When Barbara did that, her daughter and five-year-old grandson were told to leave the house that Oprah had purchased.
“That house lay empty and then it was sold. Tell me, what sort of person does that? I would have walked away quietly but she put my baby and my grandbaby out on the street. That made it personal,” she said. And Oprah is making Barbara move out of the house that she and Vernon shared during the marriage by the end of May, a move which she says--coupled with the other move--will leave her homeless.
Barbara also claimed Oprah is extremely disrespectful to her father and barely has any friends.
