Avengers: Age of Ultron has tapped Andy Serkis--who most notably played Gollum in the “Lord of the Rings” movies--while another video that was recently released shows Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch.

It’s unclear what role Serkis will take. His role has been described as “secret” by some media outlets.

Serkis talked with Variety magazine, and was quoted in a question and answer format article.

He said, “The Imaginarium is the performance capture consultant, and I’m playing a role (in both films). On ‘The Avengers,’ I’ve been working closely with Mark Ruffalo.”

He did not reveal if moviegoers will see his face.

“I’m not at liberty to mention. But it’s all the same to me. I’ve never drawn a distinction when playing a role, whether it be live action or performance capture. Acting is acting. It’s just basically what you wear to the set that’s different,” he added.

“Performance capture was used on the previous ‘Hulk,’ but not to the same extent Mark is using it now. There are tools and ways of working with an actor that makes them feel that they own the character. And a character the size of the Hulk needs ownership, which Mark has now.”

Serkis added he draws some inspiration from the “Hunchback of Notre Dame.”

“I’ve always been a huge admirer of Charles Laughton’s Hunchback of Notre Dame, not that he’s a big monster really, but that is absolutely a role I might like to play,” he said.

Regarding the Scarlet Witch video, Moviepilot reported that the filming for the movie’s outdoor sequences is done.

The video shows Scarlet Witch and “scenes requiring an extensive amount of extras,” the site says.

The video is pretty rough, features a green screen, and some unfinished effects.

“Set preparations. I am positive now that a huge portion of the movie takes place in a snowy area. The set preppers are seen putting synthetic snow on the roads, and everyone seems to be bundled up,” Moviepilot concludes.

Avengers: Age of Ultron will be released on May 1, 2015.
