Aurora: Floods Throughout City as Officials Warn People to Stay Off Roads (+Photos)

Officials in Aurora, Colorado are warning people to stay off roads unless absolutely necessary as there are numerous areas that have been flooded throughout the city.

“ If you are home, stay home,” the city government said late Thursday morning via Facebook.

A shelter is set up at Salvation Army Evacuation Site, 802 Quari Ct., near Del Mar and Peoria.

A flash flood warning has been extended until 6 a.m. on Friday morning. 

Photos shared on social media networks (see some below) show many cars submerged around the city.

Roads closed include:

Alameda Pkwy west of Chambers and East of Sable Blvd, 6th and Potomac, Alameda and Havana,

Alameda and Del Mar, 17th and Dayton, I-70 Southbound exit onto I-225, Periora and Tennessee
