Amber Langford and Annie Collinge, two college students, got flak for their twin tower costumes, but still won a nightclub fancy dress contest in Chester, United Kingdom.

Amber’s father Martin, a pilot, vowed to “have a little chat” with his daughter after the debacle.

“She knows I’m a pilot and that’s not cool at all,” he said.

The Chester University students, both 19, told the Sun: “We never meant to be offensive, but we apologize if any offence was caused. The idea was to depict a serious, modern-day horror that happened in our lifetime and was not intended as a joke.”

Stonegate Pub Company, which operates the Rosies nightclub where the situation happened, said in a statement that the DJ who awarded the prize to the women made a “serious error of judgement.”

“We apologize to anybody who may have been upset or offended by this,” a statement said. “A full investigation by the company is taking place.”

Chester University and its student union said in a statement that they “utterly condemn the appalling photos,” and are launching an investigation as well.
