Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the opening of a clean technology vehicle manufacturing plant, which is expected to create 100 direct jobs.
The company, Smith Electric Vehicles, manufactures zero-emission, all-electric vehicles. An incentive package of more than $6 million offered to the company includes almost $3.5 million in tax credits from Empire State Development, and $1.5 million in development assistance from New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
Cuomo hailed it as a “clear sign that New York is rapidly attracting innovative opportunities to grow our economy.”
