Allstate BCS National Championship Game - LSU v Alabama

Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, running back Trent Richardson and linebacker Dont'a Hightower announced on Thursday they will declare for the NFL draft, ending their careers with the Crimson Tide.

The announcement comes days after the trio won the National Championship, beating LSU 21-0. Richardson, Hightower, and Kirkpatrick won their second title in three seasons. Both Richardson and Kirkpatrick are projected to go quickly in the draft, which will take place April 26–28 in New York.

In addition, LSU defensive back Morris Claiborne and defensive lineman Michael Brockers also announced their intentions to enter the draft. Both players said the championship loss did not affect their decisions, feeling it was the right time in their careers.

Claiborne may have lost the title to Richardson’s team, but could best him in the draft. Both Claiborne and Richardson are expected to be top picks.
