In reading through the various sections of the Oct. 4–10 edition of The Epoch Times, I could not help but notice a striking contrast with regard to the matter of entering and exiting the United States.

The Opinion page features a full color photograph of U.S. Border Patrol agents carefully assisting a Venezuelan immigrant as she passes through the razor wire barrier, which I assume had been constructed for the express purpose of keeping illegal immigrants out of the country.

Then, on the front page of one of the other sections of the same edition, the Life and Tradition, there again appears a full color photograph. This photo and the accompanying article “Persecuted in Germany for Homeschooling, the Romeike Family Encourages Americans to Hold on to This Freedom,” discuss the life and travails of a homeschooling family who found it necessary to leave their German homeland for the sake of maintaining their decision to homeschool their children. They sought asylum in the United States for the purpose of pursuing their dedication to the homeschooling of their children, which they were able to do for the past 15 years. But now? The U.S. government has given them four weeks to leave the country and return to Germany.
