9-year-old killed by intruder: A 9-year-old girl was fatally stabbed by an man in a northern California home, triggering a police manhunt.
The unidentified girl’s body was found in her rural Valley Springs home with multiple stab wounds by her brother.
The brother did not recognize the attacker after the man broke in the home while their parents were not home.
Over the weekend, the two spotted the man on their property. The boy called 911 and his parents, but he later discovered that his sister was stabbed.
The man was described as a white or Hispanic male, around 6-feet-tall and with a muscular build. He had long, gray hair and was last seen wearing a black long shirt and blue pants. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous, according to a news release from the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department.
“It’s hard to even imagine how somebody could do that,” neighbor Mike Harris told CBS News.
Police have searched Valley Springs on Saturday night and Sunday.
“We were doing a house-to-house search and in some cases were searching attics and storages. It’s a difficult area to search. It’s rural, it’s remote,” Calaveras County Sheriff’s Capt. Jim Macedo said Saturday, according to CBS.
