The Duggar reality show 19 Kids and Counting should get renewed for a season 10 due to high ratings.
TLC hasn’t announced whether the series has been renewed or canceled but an official announcement should be coming soon.
19 Kids and Counting took a break starting on June 10 after the season 8 finale.
TLC announced a couple months later that the show would return with all-new episodes that would feature Jill Duggar’s wedding to Derick Dillard, as well as the lead up to the wedding. Season 9 started on September 2.
That episode set a ratings record for the series, reported Variety.
The show earned 3.29 million viewers, more than double the audience it drew with its summer finale (1.59 million).
19 Kids and Counting dropped some after that but has picked back up as season 9 got closer to Jill’s wedding.
The show got 2.4 million overall viewers (Live+Same Day) for September 16, with 1 million in the key 18-49 demographic.
The next week saw the show increase to 2.5 million viewers, which it stayed at for the week after that, September 30.
The ratings did drop to 2.1 million (0.8 million in the demographic) the first Tuesday of October, but jumped up the last two weeks--2.9 million (1 million) and 2.8 million (1 million).
Almost all of the weeks, the show has been near the top of all cable programs in terms of ratings, often only bested by the ultra popular Sons of Anarchy on FX, Family Guy, and one-off programming like baseball playoffs or the Hip Hop Awards.
This is all to say that it would be a big surprise if TLC does not renew the show. If the series doesn’t go on, it would likely be the choice of the Duggar family.
Season 8 is set to wrap up with episode 27--Jill’s wedding--on October 28.
