Artem Hozlov has been identified as the man who tried to hijack a plane, seeking to fly to Sochi, Russia.

Hozlov failed in his attempt and instead the pilot flew to the original destination of Istanbul, Turkey.

Hozlov is a Ukrainian in his mid-30s, according to state-run news agency Anadolu.

He said that he had a bomb and demanded to be taken to Sochi, where the Winter Olympics are being held.

The crew told him they would fly there but instead flew into Turkish airspace, where two F-16s met the plane.
