Arrow has become one of the most popular shows on The CW, and season 3 should be as exciting as the first two.

Season 2 found many characters going their different ways, but the most profound separation may have been Roy and Thea as the latter ultimately turned to her real father Malcolm Merlyn and appeared ready to embrace her dark side.

TVGuide now says that Merlyn “appears to be training Thea to go up against the Arrow.”

The website also notes that season 2 sees Team Arrow thriving, with Roy now Arsenal and Laurel possibly getting close to becoming the new Black Canary, while Oliver finally asks Felicity out on a date.

But things take a bad turn soon enough, with the introduction of both Ra’s al Ghul and Ray Palmer aka The Atom.

Also, Oliver will push Diggle away now that the latter is going to be a father.

Previous information has revealed more about Oliver’s new mentors now that he’s in Hong Kong.

Katana, cast as Devon Aoki (2 Fast 2 Furious, Sin City), gets her name from the deadly sword that she wields with expertise. “Tatsu will be one of Oliver’s mentors in the flashbacks and a critical influence on his journey to eventually become The Arrow of present day,” reported Deadline.

TV Line added that Maseo has been cast as  Karl Yune (Speed Racer, Memoirs of a Geisha). There’s some speculation that Maseo’s brother Takeo Yamashiro will also be cast.

New villains will also include the new Count Vertigo.

Arrow season 3 premieres on October 8.
