Arrow season 3, currently under production, will include a further exploration of the two characters many want to see together–Oliver and Felicity.
Felicity has obviously liked Oliver for quite a while but the Arrow’s feelings toward her were unclear–until he told her he loved her near the end of season 2.
That turned out to be a trick on Slade, but it could have also been true.
The official description for season 3 says that with Arrow now a hero and crime down in Starling City, Oliver is “basking in his success.”
“Oliver believes he can finally have a private life and asks Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) out on a date,” it says.
Producer Greg Berlanti gave more details to TVLine about what’s going to happen. He said that there’s a “better context” for Oliver asking Felicity out than the description indicates.
“They’re real characters to us, and they had that conversation on the beach, and they had that conversation in the house to help capture Slade,” Berlanti added.
“So the question you have to ask is: Does Oliver have real, genuine emotions for her? And how aware is he of that? And how aware does he make her of that? That is an active part of the season this year.”
One of the new characters that will be brought into Starling City is described as a love interest for Felicity–and a rival of Oliver’s, both for Felicity and professionally. The man will be a 20-something, handsome and intelligent entrepreneur who is developing groundbreaking technology.
Season 3 is slated to premiere on October 8.
