A man allegedly connected with the Brooklyn fire that killed five was arrested on Tuesday.

The NYPD say they arrested a resident of the three-story building located on 86th Street in Bensonhurst. Daniel Ignacio, 29, was charged by police with arson and five counts of homicide.

Ignacio told authorities that he was intoxicated and set a roll of toilet paper soaked in paint thinner in a baby carriage near the front door on fire. He told authorities he was asleep upstairs as the fire burned, according to the Associated Press. Police investigators are looking into several motives as to why the suspect set the fire. One woman and four men died as a result of the fire, which consumed the building, and included a Japanese restaurant on the ground floor, and mainly housed Guatemalan immigrants.
