Emporio Armani, one of the classic Italian houses, featured designs for a full range of personalities—from short dresses to suits almost too elegant for business to trousers and jackets.

Armani’s styles were striking but did not lose their wearability by disappearing into sensationalism. The collection demonstrated what a truly talented designer can do with this skill, turning a lapel here, folding fabric into a flower there, or shaping the trousers so they are flattering yet comfortable-looking. These fashions are from the Womenswear Autumn/Winter show Feb. 26.
