Thanksgiving is Thursday, Nov. 24---in case you didn’t know.

And if you’re looking to deposit money in your bank account or need banking services, you’re out of luck.

Thanksgiving Day is a federal bank holiday, which means that major banking institutions like Wells Fargo, Citibank, Bank of America, TD Bank, and Chase Bank are closed for the day. The Federal Reserve Bank, which plays a central role in payments between banks, is also closed.

Here is the list of bank closures:

Bank First National
Amerasia Bank
Bank of America
Bank of the West
BBVA Compass Bank
BMO Harris Bank
Canandaigua National Bank & Trust
Central Bank of the Midwest
Chase Bank
City National Bank
The Columbia Bank
Commerce Bank
F&M Bank
Fairfield County Bank
Fidelity Bank
First Merchants Bank
First Niagara Bank
Fulton Bank
KeyBank
M&T Bank
Nevada State Bank
PNC Bank
Regions Bank
Washington Trust Bank
Wells Fargo
Whitney Bank

Online banking and ATMs are still available, however. Some bank branches inside of grocery stores might still be open, but it’s best to contact your bank ahead of time.

Banks return to their original schedule the day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday.

Meanwhile, public schools, libraries, DMV offices, the post office, and most government institutions are closed on Thanksgiving.

The NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange are also closed.

A large number of chain stores will be closed, but many Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid locations will be open---some will be open 24 hours. The non-24 hour Walgreens locations are open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. locally, and store pharmacies will also be open Thanksgiving Day. On Black Friday, they will operate under normal business hours. Rite Aid stores will be open in select locations starting at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, and they will be open 7 a.m. Black Friday.

Mail delivery is suspended on Thanksgiving. UPS considers Black Friday and Thanksgiving as “holidays,” meaning there’s no service on Thanksgiving. On Black Friday, which is Nov. 25, service returns to normal.

Stores like Walmart, Kohl’s, Target, Best Buy, and others will remain closed for most of Thanksgiving, but they'll be opening early for Black Friday sales. Check hours before going.
