While this might need to be filed under the “too soon” category, it looks like there are rumors swirling that Apple might be looking to Foxconn to produce the coveted sapphire display for its next-generation iPhone.

According to MacRumors, Foxconn has solidified a 300 acre space to build a new plant that will focus on creating sapphire crystal displays. This factory will be built adjacent to the current iPhone plant that is located in Zhengzhou, China.

Although there was tremendous anticipation and rumor about sapphire crystal displays for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, it failed to materialize. Later, we found out that the company tasked by Apple to create these unique displays filed for bankruptcy.
