Leader in technological advancement, Apple Inc., released a new version of the iPad on Friday. Images of the iPad 2 have been posted on the company’s website boasting a new slim look.

The iPad 2 contains a new dual-core A5 chip making the new iPad twice as fast as its predecessor. The iPad 2 now has 10 hours of battery life and weighs 15 percent less than the original iPad. The new version of the iPad retains the same starting price of $US499. New smart covers for the slimmed down design start at $US39.99 and come in 10 different colors. Buyers can also choose between leather and polyurethane material for the covers.

Jason Snell from MacWorld wrote a full review of the iPad 2 after using the device for two weeks. The iPad 2 is 33 percent thinner in size than the first iPad and still manages to process information up to nine times faster than the original version of the device.

Snell pointed out in his online video review that the iPad 2 is even thinner than the iPhone 4. He also stated that the biggest change in the casing is the new rounded edges on the device.

The new iPad 2 comes two days after the release of Apple’s new iOS 4.3 operating system. The iOS system was modified just one day after its release to improve security options with in-app purchasing.
