Apple CEO Steve Jobs will announce its new anticipated cloud service at its developer conference next Monday, the company said in a release issued on Tuesday.

Apple confirmed that the cloud service will be called “iCloud,” similar to its other product names.

“Steve Jobs and a team of Apple executives will kick off the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) with a keynote address,” the release said. Of note, Jobs has been on medical leave since early this year and his only recent public appearance thus was when he unveiled the next-generation iPad 2.

At the address, Apple is slated to debut its eighth major Mac OS, Lion, the iOS 5 for the iPad, iPod touch, and the iPhone, as well as the iCloud.

It is unclear as to what services the newly-named iCloud will offer. It could be a streaming service for iTunes or it could be a storage service that combines all the Apple operating systems with its desktop, or it could be something completely different.

According to several reports, Apple has recently been doing licensing agreements with Sony Music, EMI Music, and Warner Music.
