A man who was found dead at Apple Inc.’s headquarters on April 27 has been identified as Edward Thomas Mackowiak, 25.
The death of the Apple employee was ruled a suicide by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. The cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to the Medical Examiner.
During an April 27 briefing, Santa Clara County Sergeant Andrea Urena, said officers responded to a 8:35 am 911 call of a “man down” at One Infinite Loop, Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California. Officers on the scene determined it was an “isolated incident.”
It is unclear what Mackowiak’s exact role was with the company.
According to Syracuse News, Mackowiak was a 2009 graduate of Cazenovia High School in upstate New York.
“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of a young and talented coworker,” said an Apple spokesperson on April 28, according to CBSNews. “Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends, including the many people he worked with here at Apple.
“We are working to support them however we can in this difficult time.”
