Angelina Jolie says that Brad Pitt is a “great man” and that he informed her directing of the upcoming movie “Unbroken,” which tells the true story of Louis Zamperini, an Olympian who was taken prisoner by Japanese forces during World War II.
“So much of this film, it is a war film but that’s not all it is, it’s an epic about the human spirit,” Jolie told reporters at a press conference in Sydney.
“So I think certainly in knowing less about the technical aspect of shooting a war film, but more what I know of him [Brad] as a man and living with this great man and seeing the choices he makes with our family, our children, the way he treats me and the values he holds and learning from my sons.”
“These are things I think I brought to the film that I understand about men and what I love about men, and what I think I’d want our generation to be reminded of,” she added.
“The great men who came before them and the greatness in them now and how to rise up to it.”
Jolie also shared how she and her husband kept in touch while she was in Australia directing the film and he was in the United Kingdom starring in “Fury.”
“It was interesting that we had different parts of the war, different theatres of the same war at the same time,” she said.
“Which was lovely, and we wrote letters back and forth, 1940s style.”
Unbroken, which stars Finn Wittrock, Jai Courtney, Domhnall Gleeson, Jack O’Connell, and Garrett Hedlund, is slated to hit theaters on December 25, 2014.
Fury, which also stars Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Pena, and Jon Bernthal, came out in October.
Jolie is rumored next to star in Salt 2 as Evelyn Salt, according to IMDB.
Pitt has no future projects rumored or confirmed at the moment.
