Anderson Silva should retire following his recent injury, Jon Jones said.

“I’m hoping that Anderson just stays away from the sport and continues to be an inspiration outside of the octagon,” Jones said on 106.7 WJFK. “[He should] not fight again.”

While Jones said he admires Silva, including his “idol” status in his native Brazil, he said that retiring could free Silva up to be more of a humanitarian.

“Anderson can do seminars, he can do motivational speaking, he can help all the kids in Brazil,“ Jones said. ”I mean, he’s such an idol. His greatness has just begun, but I think in the octagon, I think it’s been already fun.”

Others also believe that Silva should retire, such as UFC broadcaster Joe Rogan.

Silva doesn’t share the view and is already planning a return fight sometime this year.

Silva fractured his leg on December 28.
