Anderson Cooper, 43, the CNN news anchor, will be honored by the Worldwide Orphans Foundation (WWO) at its Sixth Annual Benefit Gala on Nov. 1. The event will be hosted by Heidi Klum and her husband, Seal, who is scheduled to perform.

Cooper is being given the Honorary Orphan Ranger award, to recognize his in-depth reporting on the orphan crisis that hit Haiti after a 7.0 earthquake struck the impoverished island in January 2010.

“WWO is proud to honor Anderson Cooper for shining the spotlight for the world on the devastating impact of Haiti’s earthquake on orphaned and vulnerable children,” said Dr. Jane Aronson, founder and CEO of WWO.
