Amy Duggar, an occasional guest star on the hit “19 Kids and Counting” show, celebrated her first of three bridal showers over the weekend as her wedding date nears.
Amy looks happy with fiance Dillon King in pictures from the event, which took place at Dillard’s in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Saturday.
Dillard’s actually reached out to Amy, 28, to ask if they could throw her party.
“We gave them a list of people and they were like, ‘The more the merrier,'” she told Us Weekly. “It is stress free. It was nice I didn’t have to give out invitations or any of that. They did all that.” They also did all the food. “They went over and beyond,” she said.
Amy and Dillon started dating in November 2014 but have been friends for years.
“He’s been my best friend for seven years…He makes me laugh more than any person on the planet,” she said.
Amy doesn’t follow many of the strict dating rules that the main Duggar clan has, but remains friends with the family, especially Jill and Jessa. In fact, the Duggar cousin even reached out to Jill recently for advice, and switched from her original courthouse wedding plan after Jim Bob talked her out of it.
“Uncle Jim Bob is more traditional than I am and he was just like, ‘Now, Amy, a wedding is all about family and friends and coming together,” she recalled, adding: “I’m an only child so my mom [Deanna] was like, ‘You have to have a wedding, I have to cry at your wedding. It’s a thing!'”
According to Amy and Dillon’s registry at Dillard’s, the wedding is set for September 6. It will not be braodcast on TLC, which aired “19 Kids” until recently.
