A horse that was pulling an Amish buggy in Ronks, located in Pennsylvania’s Lancaster County, was shot and killed by a person in a moving vehicle.

WHTM reported that an unidentified car passed the horse and officials said the driver heard a loud noise--with the car driving off.

When the buggy came home, the driver discovered that the horse was bleeding from its mouth. The horse then died shortly before a veterinarian could arrive.

A gunshot wound was found on the left side of the horse’s chest area, Fox 43 reported.

None of the occupants in the buggy were injured.
