American Idol returns for another two hour episode on January 16 following its two hour premiere on Wednesday evening.

What time is it and where to watch?

American Idol begins at 8 p.m. ET or 7 p.m. CT.

The best way to watch the show is on your local Fox affiliate. There doesn’t appear to be an official livestream online.

The premiere was full of good singers but was also the debut for new judge Henry Connick Jr.

At least one writer was taken by Connick’s range of talents, from being tough and funny at the same time.

Michael Slezak of TVLine wrote that Connick is able to distinguish “good” from “potentially great.”

He’s also able to shoot down younger singers singing lyrics that are too sexually charged, not afraid to make fun of himself, and genuinely hilarious, Slezak wrote, who added that he’s “a man so sublime he’s almost managed to dislodge memories of human barnacle Randy Jackson from my brain.”
