FX renewed American Horror Story for season 4 late last year. Since then, lots of spoilers, cast, and other updates have been coming out.

Let’s check them out:

-Season 4 is set in 1950, Ryan Murphy said. “If you look historically what happened in the year 1950, there’s some more clues in that year. It’s a period piece,” he told E! News. “We try and do the opposite of what we’ve done before.”

-Jessica Lange is returning for season 4, even though she’s been cast in ABC’s “The Visitors.” Lange is practicing her German accent, and will get to play a Marlene Dietrich figure, Murphy revealed.

-For Lange, however, season 4 will be her last. ““It ends up being a lot of time during the year being committed to something,” the actress told E! News. “I haven’t done that for a long time. It’s like doing a stage play between the rehearsal and the run. This is a 6-month commitment every year. That will be four years in a row. I want to have more time to myself I guess.” Co-creator Ryan Murphy said that they’re already planning Lange’s death or exit.

-Murphy also confirmed that season 4 will not be contemporary and will be filmed in New Orleans of Santa Fe.

-Murphy added that while Lange doesn’t play the lead role in season 4, “she'll have this great juicy part.”

-Season 3 had a funnier tone and was just a little brighter, Evan Peters told Vulture. Season 4 will be “continuing on with the lighter side of things.”

-Peters, unlike Lange, said he’s prepared to do as many seasons of the shoe as possible. “I love the show and think it’s a great work environment with great people to work with and very challenging material, so I would like to continue doing it for as long as I can.”

-The new season is rumored to premiere in October of this year. A costume designer said that he heard the filming could start in June.

-The new season will have 13 episodes.
