Alexander Ryng and his wife Kyla Ryng were found dead in their home on Henderson Street in Bristol, CT on Wednesday.

Their children discovered their bodies.

The couple has three young kids--4 years old, 3 years old, and 20 months old--who were all home.

Police responded to the call around 7 a.m. when a neighbor called police after one of the kids went to their home.

It’s not clear who killed whom before killing themselves, police said in a press conference, reported NBC.

Alex, 26, was a member of the Connecticut Army National Guard who was based in New London.

Residents of the neighborhood said that they’re shocked.

“This is a very quiet neighborhood,” said neighbor Brenton Eckstrom. “I grew up here; I bought the house from my parents. That’s the reason I bought it: it’s always quiet.”

Kyla, 27, had filed for divorce from Alex just five days prior, reported the Hartford Courant. She described herself on Facebook as a full-time mother and wife.

In court documents, she said that the marriage had “broken down irretrievably” and asked that the couple’s property and debts be divided and that Alex pay her child support.

She requested the children’s primary residence be with her though she would allow joint custody.

The children are being cared for by other family members in the aftermath.
